Gallantry & Bravery Section

Those who have been awarded the PVC, MVC and VrC have shown conceivable heights of heroism. Such are the people whose memories can inspire a nation. They are the ones who serve as ideals to our children, adolescent young men and women. As they belong to different castes, creeds, religions and states, they are the embodiments of patriotism and secularism and a strong factor in national integration. They also bring tremendous pride among those still serving and protecting the country's frontiers.

But, as lamented by Sqn Ldr K.B. Karkare, father of late Capt. Ashok Kumar Karkare, VrC, "the nation has failed to give adequate recognition to the great sacrifices made by her sons". If this compilation succeeds, no matter in what small measure, in reminding the nation of the valiant sacrifices made by her sons, it will have achieved much of its aims.
